There will be three age divisions offered:

The age cutoff date for each division is August 5th, 2019.  Whatever age a youngster is on that date would be the primary age division that that youngster is eligible to participate in for 2019 Spring season.

Participating in more than one age division

Players do have the opportunity to participate in another age division in addition to their primary age division – in other words, they may PLAY UP an age division.  An example would be a player that is 8u age division eligible.  That player may also register to play up in the 12u division.  Players are NOT eligible to PLAY DOWN from their primary age division unless the PYHA determines that the skill level of a player would be more appropriate playing down an age division from their primary age division.

The PYHA does have a limited inventory of hockey gear that players may check out to use for the upcoming season.  However, the loaned hockey gear is conducted on a first–come–first–serve basis.  Hockey gear checkout date will be August 14th, 2019 at the Pioneer Park arena.  Players who are first to be served with hockey gear on that date will be the first to receive the loaner gear.

Equipment return date will be October 23rd, 2019.

Please note that the 2019 Fall Youth Rec Registration fee WILL INCLUDE AN AAU MEMBERSHIP. 

The PYHA is a registered member of the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU).

As such, the PYHA is privileged to offer all of its participants medical coverage for injuries that they may incur during hockey play.  The AAU medical coverage is IN ADDITION to your own personal health coverage.  In other words, your primary medical coverage is the first insurance to deal with any potential health issue related to hockey in the PYHA youth league.  AAU insurance follows up to cover any deductible that is not covered by your insurer.  

All youth recreational league participants must be a registered member with AAU in order for all of its members to benefit from this medical coverage.

Membership with AAU is good through August 31st, 2020.

Also - All non-athletes, who will fill the role of an official coach or manager, ​must have an AAU membership.

The AAU membership fee for players to participate are as follows:

*Adult Non–Athlete AAU membership is only for individuals who will fill the role of an official coach or manager on the bench for a team during games.

Before any PYHA youth season begins, it can be very challenging to determine how many teams will be produced in each age division.  Obviously, if the majority of entrants are 12u age division eligible, or, if far more players register than was anticipated, the original structure of the proposed season that was advertised, can change.

All players will receive 2 general practice sessions at the beginning of the season which will permit PYHA officials to rate everyone's skill level.  Once skill levels have been determined, a draft is conducted in which to equitably place upper skilled players and beginner skilled players equally on teams so that all teams have a similar level parity.

Saturdays may be utilized for practices and games

The PYHA does not want to turn away families who wish to participate in the youth recreation leagues.  In order to avoid this possibility, the PYHA MAY schedule some practices and games on Saturdays. 

Practice and game days will be determined after registration closes on March 11th, 2019.  

May we submit a special request for our child?

Special requests will be considered.  However, the PYHA cannot guarantee that requests will be fulfilled nor is it obligated to fulfill them.

Teams will be made in a manner that attempts to keep them balanced.  Adjustments to teams may be made during the season, if necessary.

The PYHA board has final say on all youth league decisions.
