Prescott Youth Hockey Association
What is the PYHA?
The Prescott Youth Hockey Association (PYHA) began its operation of conducting recreational inline hockey leagues and youth travel inline hockey at Pioneer Park in 2005.
But it was in 1995 that the seeds of this rising sport were first planted. The 'rink on 6th Street' – the Roller Rave skating center – rounded its corners on the floor, erected a scoreboard and painted face–off circles on the surface. They opened the first ever youth recreational inline hockey league in the quad cities on October, 1995.
Over the years, the numbers of participants grew so significantly that a group undertook an effort to construct what is now the Pioneer Park inline hockey arena. The Roller Rave closed its doors and the Pioneer Park arena spread its wings in September of 2005. Since then, the PYHA has continued the inline hockey tradition of excellence with stellar youth and adult leagues, and a robust youth tournament travel program that has claimed an age division state championship title virtually every season since their inception in 2006.
The PYHA has established itself as a sports organization with vision and leadership. The PYHA has developed a playing participation structure within their youth recreational leagues that no other inline hockey program utilizes. This game structure assures that each player on every team gets equal play time while at the same time promoting a genuine competitive format.
Fundraisers, skate-a-thons and Food Drives for the hungry are just a small sampling of the community activities that the PYHA promotes and leads its families to contribute.
